There’s a circular discussion going on talk pages of Wikipedia at the moment. It goes something like this (represented in BASIC computer code for a laugh:)
10 “By publishing the hand drawn images of our Prophet on Wikipedia, you are humiliating 1.7 Billion Muslims in the world.” – Idiot on Wikipedia
20 “No, by complaining about an Islamic illuminated text offending you, YOU are humiliating the world’s Muslims. Except most of them have better things to do than read the talk pages of Wikipedia, you child.” – Everyone else.
GOTO 10
Apparently, according to the braying ‘representatives’ of the Muslim community, once again the whole world has to censor images of real human being Muhammad. And it is argued that Wikipedia’s article, which contains images of Muhammad that stem from Islamic texts is transgressing the borders of decent Islam. Needless to say this is utter cack, and the repression of images of Muhammad stems mostly from the 20th Century.
And if you take offense to those Images of Muhammad on Wikipedia, maybe you should ask yourself why you’re a Muslim. After all, those are beautiful Islamic illuminated manuscripts you’re complaining about.
I have heard of people who take offense to images of Muhammad, and don’t want their texts displayed, andwant to censor the islamic religion – they’re callled fascists. And I never thought it would be people calling themselves Muslims who would be helping to stamp out accurate Islamic historical representationon the pages of an Encyclopedia.
If anything, The Q’uran, as well as the Bible and the Torah could do with some damn pictures.
Hope someone comes to protest the following images of Muhammad (courtesy of Google Images, Infidel Zionist creation)

Please show some thought when replying. Adding “f***” and “f***er” after each sentence will not help you get your point across better. In fact, it just worsens your argument

Iconoclasm rocks, to bad it doesn’t win Islam anymore wars or territories like it did in the ninth century. Maybe Muhammad was just a savvy desert merchant and there is no sky fairy granting wishes based upon each individuals wants and desires. Perhaps outcomes of civilizations are based on creativity and technology, something the middle east doesn’t have an abundance of, just look to the Koran, one of the more poorly written religious documents history, not that any of them are really good, but that one is particularly bad.

Funny, I never said I hate Muhammad. Or anything about Jesus. In fact, it apears you’re just an angry person who THINKS someone is attacking your “saviour” without you having read the slightest bit of the (quite short and simply written) post. I am defending Muhammad. You’re just embarrassing him by being a god-awful, angry, confused young man.

You give a long list of people who converted to Islam – but NO evidence that they are smarter than the average person. Your list is too heavily weighted with show business people and athletes – not generally groups renowned for their intellectual capacity. It may not have helped your argument to include so many murderers and terrorists – kinda hurts the case for Islam being a religion of peace.

If you are joking then ignore what I’m about to say.
But don’t you think inability to comment should be based on knowledge one has, and not their religious mantle? I’d wager a great deal of christians, muslims etc don’t know a great deal about their religion, as they were born into it without questioning its fundamentals. A great amount of evidence for this is in the hate-filled invective you can find from any prominent fundamentalist in any religiuon, or indeed the increasingly baffling comments below.
What started out as a simple comment on suppressing historical artefacts and records (even one’s own religion’s) has become a test-case of religious fervour, hatred, paranoia and insult. The only reason I even approve the comments anymore is because it serves as a perfect foil to witness the mental illness that is asserted belief – and yes, this seems to include so-called “atheists” as well.
I’d rather we believed in each other for once, instead of the God-abstraction so obviously modelled after us.
June 23, 2009 at 3:36 am

Dear WTF Joel.
You’re half right. Historians tend to agree that there was a man from galilee, most likely a teacher, whose words and actions brought him to the attention of the roman honchos who accused him of sedition. Similarly we have evidence Muhammad was a real person (since he lived in 600+ ad and historical records are much more reliable. And yet Islam is itself undecide whether he was a prophet, supreme lawmaker of messenger from god. Why’s that? Well, the notions that JDog and M to the H were supreme beings is why Joel is right. Invented for the most part after the fact, their abilities and status as such is about as provable as any other religious dogma. For an even more striking example look at the Mormons who belive Jesus lives on the plabet kolab, or L Ron hubbard, whose followers now believe him to variously be the son of god, saviour of all mankind or anything else they need him to be. And he was alive 30 years ago…
October 1, 2012 at 9:25 pm
The7thSon
Actually, wtf joel, there is currently ZERO archaeological evidence – or empirical written evidence, for that matter – that Jesus ever actually existed. The subject is still hotly debated in scholarly circles. As for Muhammad, there is some evidence that he once lived.

The thing is what many do not understand is that no muslim wants pictures of Hz. muhammed to be circulating simply because our religion bans it. The reason that Muhammed himself and people of Islam are against it is because Muhammed was a messanger from God a human being. Allah (God) is the place to point to the single one to pray to. Pictures, statues etc. may cause people to worship muhammed rather then Allah. eg. Jesus Christ All Mighty etc. All the books are from and are of Allah (God) not by those who received the messages. Hz. Muhammed took much time to explain that he was not the one to worship to, and that hes pictures must not be used as icons. For the Islam religion bans icons etc. Open to comment but simply my belief is that Jesus sometimes by somepeople is worshiped for and prayed to rather then God. Jesus was no ones creator, Allah (God) was and is. I hope I could explain my self. Ps. someone swearing at Jesus can NOT be a true Muslim because the Quran openly talks of all prophets… (Yes including Jesus)

wow. see the problems religions cause in our world. no matter if its Christians Muslims Jews ect. this has been happening for the last 2000 years. when are we as a society going to unite and stop fighting over something so ridiculous. or are we all going to kill each other over it. yeah both Jesus and Muhammad were great teachers of god. but don’t you think that these great teachers of GOD wanted you to focus more on GOD than them. they both said this in their teachings yet it seems we tend to portray them more than god himself. i dont think thats what these teachers of god would want. i dont believe in any of societies religions but i do believe in god. God is something magnificent so if you are a good person how could god turn you down and send you to this ever lasting hell because you didn’t follow these corrupt religions? god wouldnt do that. if anything he would send these religious bastards to hell for killing millions of people and corrupting humanity.

p.s. these books you talk about are not from god himself. these books didn’t fall out of the heavens down to earth. these books were simply written by man himself. man is very capable of LIES and MISTAKES as we all know. besides that who’s to say that these biblical text weren’t changed over time or put together by religions to be misleading from the truth just because its how these religions wanted their teachings to be represented. i know thats exactly what Christianity did. they left hundreds of gospels out of the new testament. in fact the gospels that are in the new testament weren’t even written until two hundred years after Jesus death. the ones that were written in his time or soon after were simply left out. which none of them talk about jesus being resurrected and say that we can all be children of god just like jesus. you are simply following the teachings of a man if you follow any religion. its stupid. us as humans can decipher between good and evil in our hearts. god simply wants us to follow the good in it and if we do there is no way he will harm us.
December 21, 2009 at 6:59 am

The very idea of god is man’s creation in the first place. You are simply not tracing the influence back far enough. Every book, the bible, Qur’An are all invented and edited by humans. Why do we know this? Because they’re in the languages we developed in the first place. And then translated.
March 5, 2010 at 6:13 am
inquisitive
True, entirely true. But as Christians, we would like to believe that our prayers asking for God’s presence during our translation were answered, and that the Bible is closely accurate in different languages. In fact, most Bibles have annotations speaking of different possible translations, just in case they might have been erroneous.
March 18, 2010 at 6:26 pm
hypernation
What evidence is there to support this “multi-translational” aspect in *most* Bibles? As far as I have ever seen, in most of the versions the text is solid, fixed, and quoted word for word by others. The Bible, and many religious texts, are considered definitive down to the last word by many believers – and this exactly is what causes the rabid fervour you see in the comments on this page. No flexibility, and self-reflexive logic based on assumption and opinion, with no historical evidence to back any of it up.

Rise of Atheism
There is no god. There never has been any proof of an invisible being, who floats over us and watches everything we do. If you can come up with even one bit of evidence, and I’m talking about scientific evidence, then I will listen to you. Till then you need to shut the fuck up. If you want to be mad at someone be mad at your religious leaders who tell you to just put up with the world around you and not to make a fuss because all will be made better in heaven. They tell you that so they can continue to take advantage of you and not have you put a bullet in their head. Islam is centered around an area of the world where there are very rich people and very poor people, and the rich have always told the poor to just pray and be happy with what little they have so they don’t revolt and take some of that wealth from the rich. If you study any human history you will see that those with power and wealth keep it by using religion to keep the poor staying poor. Threatening people with harm is the most cowardly way to try to win an argument. When humans finally abandon religion it will be the greatest day in human history.

Your faggy little prophet, Muhammad sucks a fat donkey dick, and take a shower of semen to the face!! I just had to say that.
You people are absolute fools to completely lose your turbans over a depiction of a man who we really have no idea what he looked like anyway, or to call a jihad over somebody ridiculing your god-damned goofy beliefs. You honestly have nothing better to do?

This blog post is great, and the flurry of angry, opinionated, mostly off-topic comments is pretty much what should have been expected. Even the atheist responses.
A message for all of you: Live and let live. I believe a rough translation of that sentence is in the bible, the qaran, in pagan beliefs, and should be the attitude of most atheists. “Practice what you preach” is another one.

Here is a good religion; The entire Universe was created by a point smaller than an atom, had no space and no time, and decided by itself to expand faster than the speed of light into to what we percieve of today. Now that is a fantasy! Also there is no proof of this theory, as well, so quit being so smug as to suggest that your Atheism is correct because ‘God’ cannot be proven. Neither can any other theories of our grand beginning.

there were alot of prophets back then and they were before the camera was invented you dum guy………
and second thing u just said to kill our selfs but not others , huh that was very funny to me bcuz ur not our god to tell us what to do, so mind it,.. got me :)…
and another thing to remind you, jesus was one of the prophet, let me remind you
islam was after christianity,, and so jesus has a role in islam too .
is not that we don’t respect jesus. but its just not fair for people to draw faces of Muhammad(P.B.U.H), WHICH is just insulting islam and the prophets 🙂
is this clear enough?

unbelievable
There is one incontrovertible fact that has arisen out of this ‘discussion’: Anyone with an exclusive perception of this issue, whether atheist, Muslim, Christian, whatever, has not only totally missed the point of their religion, but has missed the foundational (and generally ignored in favour of profit) point of all religions – treat yourself and others with respect. Or, if you like, ‘do unto others, yada, yada.
Live and let live is right. Nobody that treats others with blatant disrespect earns any opportunity to be heard as an intelligent person. When we do, our points, no matter how hypothetically valid, become moot. It’s like a self-inflicted ad hominem attack.
Thanks for showing how pathetic we all really are though. Well done.

To say that all Islamic people are terrorist and out to destroy everything is ridiculous. There’s bad in all religion! I’m a christian but look at our own history christian leaders have murdered thousand and thousands of people just for believing differently, Example: The crusades. Don’t lump all people with a bad hand full. Now, for the issue of muhammed’s picture. I can understand the meaning behind it, but you can’t sensor the world. All you can do is distance yourself from it. If something has a picture that offends you or your religion just distance yourself from it by not watching it or looking at it. The main reason people are wanting to post pictures is because it causes an uproar. If it didn’t bother people the would do. If you as a people just didn’t watch the shows that posted the picture the rating would go down and the network and creator would stop. They get the ratings by it being controversial.

Salam,
Muhammad (pbuh) and Jesus (pbuh) are both prophets of God/Allah (swt), if you believe that you are created, so accept what you’re Creator says, it was God’s will to choose all these prophets at different times, human being knew nothing, but first of all these prophets were educated divinely so that they can teach what they learned to bring humanity on earth and accomplish what they are assigned for.
Who we are to object God’s will when we are self nothing, we don’t know when we die, and what’s going to happen to us the very next minute.
Please be thankful to what you are given, thank your God for all his blessings, thank him for what He has given you on earth and what He has promised to give you in hereafter, do you think all these blessings come for free..NO, these blessings and the promised rewards comes when only we follow and humbly obey what He says, and at present He wants us to follow what he has sent to us through his Holy books.
Follow your logic, Islam is a modern religion sent in a time when humans were at a better position to understand it, don’t go with what you hear from today’s fake muslims, follow what Islam says, increase your knowledge, because Islam teaches you what you can’t learn whole life looking for it from other sources, and please don’t make fun of any messenger, they have sacrificed their lives for God’s will and consent.

Islam is the religion of peace and Allah is one who is merciful, kind and Hazrat Mohammad (S.A.W) is prophet of Allah. i would like to something to those people who hate Islam.first of all you should read the biography of Mohammad(S.A.W) with your open and good hearts and then read the Quran with translation in any language which you know. and then you are liable make comments and conclusions.after that Inshallah you will definitely
you will find thins and facts about Islam.

no need to create riots….this thing has been planned already…’They’ want to destroy the relationship btween all of us no matter if u a christian, muslim or others…think prudent and wisely my friend in more overtly view, who will be profited from this quarrel? If we continue to badmouthing each other, it will not finish until the apocalypse drop by per se.. We all live here temporarily. The world is the stage, and we’re the actors and actress. The scenario happened is the test and how we apply our role at the stage.Unless some of us here is actually in ‘their’ team.. people always emphasize on differences rather than similarities. Once again, this is one of the test. We succeed or not will depending on our own attitude. later on we’ll be judged by God and then the one who disrespect, un will receive the punishment severely.
